🦠 Hello! I'm a deep-sea microbiology PhD Candidate in the MIT-WHOI Joint Program in Oceanography, where I work with Dr. Julie Huber. I am an NSF Graduate Research Fellow (GRFP).
🌋 Before starting graduate school, I studied extremophilic environments with Dr. Heather Graham at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. As an undergraduate in Dr. Amy Schmid’s lab at Duke University, I studied genetic adaptations to stress in halophilic (salt-loving) archaea.
🪐 My research interests include deep-sea microbial ecology, hydrothermal vent biogeochemistry, astrobiology, and the search for life on ocean worlds of our solar system. My work combines microbial ecology with integrated multi-'omic bioinformatics to investigate microbial metabolism, particularly chemolithoautotrophy, and adaptations to poly-extreme environments.
